MobileHolmes
Hi all. Wanted to share the new find from yesterday. Thought I would have the camera but not. Bought a new scale and thought 500g would be enough however I guess not as this baby goes off the chart 500g+ tax. I was going to share the other 9 I found on the last 4 trips but that is small change. Could not find a coil close by and wanted a quick fix so I called David Johnson at Bounty Hunter. I asked if I could drill a hole in the coil and add something that would stabilize the coil so it wouldn't rattle and go off when you shook it. Sure enough, he came up with the place. I added the product, which my wife picked out, bingo - it works better than it ever has. Thanks to David and the wife I found my biggest meteorite ever!!! Here's the pics. MobileHolmes
Thanks Rick,Kami and Joe I have been hunting Gold Basin since 02 and have found 30+ in maybe 10 hunts there. Also have hunted gold there as well in in the Mtn ranges. I know the field will always be there so I check it out now and then to see what is going on with the land developements. I like to break new ground so Larry Sloan Bill Versulis and Todd Parker and I are in new areas mostly. I only wanted one Meteorite in GB and Franconia but somehow became addicted to the sport or hobby. This sport and Nugget Shooter has brought people together that is rare in collecting whether gold or even rings on the beaches. [My Favorite]. I had to say that. The wife likes gold. The type you can wear now. Rick and Kami. Now that the coil is working and the hot water heater gets here [Hopefully Today] we could plan another hunt. Its been alittle nasty up here with the wind. SoCalNovice
Wayne, That sure is a beautiful honker you got there. Congrats! People have been telling me GB is hunted out but I can see that is not the case. They have kept me away; maybe that was their intent . Looks like I will have to make a trip there soon. Thanks for foiling everyones plan to fool me . Scott
Kaimi
Scott: No one place is hunted out no matter what anyone says> I found a gridded area and then proceeded to pick out several nice irons. Two about a yard away from dig marks. Guess someone found their iron and left without checking the immediate area. Looking forward to a two or three day outing first weekend of may. Aloha for now, Stan aka Kaimi :cigar:
Basaltgooroo
Scott, that area we hunted last weekend up on the first hill from the fence, that area was cleaned out pretty good. Still, my dad found a 90 gram chondrite and i found a 20-30 gram chondrite. Goldmanmike probably found that big one within 15 feet of a dig hole. MobileHolmes
Hi So Cal & Sonny Rick Kami Its not a piece of cake out there but they can be found. GB is a very large field. Just do not give up no matter how many dig holes you find or kicked up hot rocks. Sonny Thanks. Talked to Larry and he said it was pretty good size my largest was 50 grams prior to this. I gave him the coor. This area has really been hammered but just stuck the coil between 2 bushes and bingo. Looking at the dates Rick. Will try to make it Wayne
azdigger
Hi all, looks like I might not be able to make that date at GB....I got hit in the rear end tonight and I am not even sure if the tailgat on my truck will open also it broke my drivers seat, it will no longer sit upright like it should.....The good thing is I am OK, to make it short.... Dogs loose on road, cars in front of me slowed and stopped for dogs, I slowed then started forwrd, littel white car hit the truck behind me so hard it slammed into me....the truck behind me had the frame bent it was hit so hard, even mashed the rear bumper down almost to the ground. My bumper is bent in on one side and bent out on the other, I have to get under it and see what else might have been done, there was a couple of sheared off bolts under my truck. Sorry folks , just seems it is not my time to be in the fields.
Basaltgooroo
Hmmm maybe its not an omen but maybe it will be a twist of fate and u will end up finding the new main mass lol Good luck with your truck hope to see ay in the field soon [Erik]
Kaimi
As long as you are in one piece and able to get around, consider yourself lucky! Watch what you do during the next couple of days as the "second collision" effects will catch up sooner than you think. Take care and hope all gets taken care of quickly. Aloha for now, Stan aka Kaimi
Paleface
Wayne, That is one heck of a find, GB specimens are getting harder to find all the time and one that size is almost un-heard of anymore. Couple more trips out there and you will have gotten them all.... Scott better hurry...... :icon_mrgreen: all kidding aside, the meteorite Gods will keep that strewnfield stocked for years to come.... A person just has to swing the coil in places that the average Joe doesn't. One thing that is getting harder to find in GB than a meteorite is a sure fire legal place to hunt. Will get with you one of these days and do a hunt...... Jim
MobileHolmes
Rick Glad to hear you walked away. Do not be to quick to sign off on the injury factor. Have been in several accidents.[Not my falt] And 3 months later I could not get out of bed. Went to the doctor and had forgot about the accident. Had never been to a Chiro before and he straightened me out in 2 visits. 10 years ago was hit from behind walked away and spent 7 months with a very bad neck. Also broke the seat. Sure recked my Receational Lifestyle. The neck will never be the same. I hope the insurance co is Gecko. They spend 100 Mil a year to advertise. We can work on dates to hunt. Wayne Jim Thanks. Was going to E you but did not know how long you would be SD. We have had some excellent weather between wind days. Will E you. Oh!!! Total weight 555grams. :icon_mrgreen: Wayne
