Tektite or impact glass

Recommended Posts

Found this and a few more.  Kind of hard to get great pictures with this phone but it has the correct texture on the outside and although it looks kind of clear in the photos it's kind of a greenish tint to it that also has very long bubbles and of course dirt and debris inside here and there. Going to leave where I found it a mystery for the moment and also I'll include some pictures of the silicate strands I don't know little hair like things sticking up into just as they say impact glass has on it.

Looks like Calcite or Quartz or a combo there of ! ???

I'm not sure exactly but I am sure that it has long bubbles in it which I don't know if either of those have that characteristic.  It also has folds in it like melted glass folded on top of itself or like a bunch of glass pieces fused together but again melted glass from a person won't have long bubbles from what Ive read.  It also has the long silica strands I believe is what they are called lechatelierite.  I don't know if this 8s a characteristic of terrestrial glass though

The only way for you to answer your question(s) is to send it in to a lab for analysis.

You (we) can gander guesses here till next year won't accomplish anything.

Good luck
