Now to find some idiots - I mean workers, to get down in that shaft and dig.

How is that working out for you? When all this snow in CA melts it will move a lot of overburden, particularly in the burn areas.

That's called free labor. All good. However, we don't have any burn areas darn it.

7 more feet on the way...

California's Sierra Nevada sees Blizzard Warnings as up to 7 feet of snow expected by Wednesday

https://www.foxweather.com/weather-news/california-sierra-nevada-blizzard-warnings-snow-wednesday

That's great news!! Plenty of water this year. If man just stops trying to manipulate the weather and climate everything would be great!!!

Volcanos and climate change..read up on it. Also lodge pole pines standing up vertical in some if our deep lakes, one for example Tenya Lake in Yosemite. Those large pines grew do to a 300 to 400 years drought cycle hundreds of years ago when only the natives roamed the areas. Today they are submerged under the lake. This is just one example of proof climate is in a cyclical cycle, been going around for a while now. Anyways something to think about, we are mere fleas on the thin earth crust which can be shaken off in an instant.

GhostMiner ... I really like your journal and switched to another board for its continuation. But you don't need to be so rude here now that the journal is not being reviewed. Remember YOU decided to stop posting and you caught flack for it from some of the other members. And then you apologized for speaking out when you were under the affluence of alcohol from the Bushmills! And now you are doing the same again ... sober I suspect. WHY? Why are you asking to be banned from the forum? There is no need for it between adults. We can agree to disagree in politics and a few other things in life and that is OK. But why resort to name calling? Both politics and personal confrontation are not allowed on this forum ... and what is worse I think you know that but you continue! I think Skip is being very forgiving here not speaking out. If you keep it up you will hear from him I am sure. No reason to "Go out in Flames"!

GhostMiner it is one thing to stand up for what YOU feel is right but another to try to ply those beliefs on to others who may think otherwise. There are rules on this forum forbidding personal affronts ... deserved or not ... and as a forum member you agree to abide by those rules.

I'm timing how long that post takes to get deleted by the great "staff" here LOL.

Ghost Miner, it was about 4 hours, also Mike mentioned one of the rules of these forums, we don't have too many but there are a couple of more, one being "No Political Posts", strike one, another being no disrespecting forum staff, strike two, let's keep it there and no more strikes please.

My Moderation of your content is not personal, I do what I think is best for the forum, I take no sides in my Moderation, I know you feel differently on the subject of my Moderation, you seem to forget the Moderating I did shortly after you joined the forum, which was all in your favor.

Also Dakoka Slim didn't break any rules when he pointed out that there was a topic already on the forum about how to go about starting small scale mining, he could've worded it better so it didn't hurt your feelings, but he didn't break forum rules, he didn't post an insult towards you

Getting back on the subject of CA weather, here are a couple maps showing current snow depth and if you zoom out on the 3rd map you can see 2 more storms out in the Pacific that are headed that way. Beware the Ides of March. :old:

Yosemite hasn't seen such snowpack in over 56 years, do to so much snow and for the safety of visitors its closed until they feel its safe again. We are expecting more snow in elevations above 2500 feet this weekend, they say 2-3 feet. As a result of snow, rain and tree limbs falling on power lines people have been out of power. Do to inclement weather  propane demand has increased, only problem now is the snow plow crews clearing main streets and neighborhoods have basically created barriers for propane delivers by blocking their driveways with all the snow pushed off to the sides. So no propane for many, the other day neighbors doing a welfare check  on  a 93 year old gentleman and veteran of WW2 found him warming himself with a 5 gallon propane tank and small burner  in his house, out of food do to spoilage with power being out for days . God only knows how many people are suffering do to this unusual weather. In 21 years I have not seen so much snow. Be like a good boy scout, Be Prepared.

We would go up every year over the Sierra's to visit my grandparents in the late 80s and early 90s. It was nothing to see 20 to 30 foot walls of snow in the pass areas. It was really quite impressive and something i will always remember from my childhood.

History Quiz: Why is Donner Pass called Donner Pass?

I believe it originated from the wagon train that was stuck up there during some of the weather they are now experiencing.  It got so bad and desperate for them that they had to serve up their dead in order to survive.  Bless there souls...
