jayman4206
I found this on our property and need help identifying what this is. It's a fairly large piece, and I know it's got a lot of quartz in it. I'm mostly curious about the white inclusion and also what the "wormhole" like cavities snaking through it are from. Also, there are places on it where you can clearly see that it was molten, with almost drip-like formations in it. Although those might not be entirely visible in the pics. Found on our property on an untouched Indian reservation in the San Diego County mountains. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Morlock
You might want to check that small whitish area with vinegar to see if it's quartz or calcite. Simply put a few drops of very warm vinegar on it to see if you get a slow fizzing after a few minutes. If you do...it's calcite. If not....quartz.
