old mining claims

Recommended Posts

There have been over 30,000 mines in the state.  If you go to a site like mylandmatters.org you can go to the Arizona Section and turn on the mine layer and also look for the graphic on the map.

I personally like the Wickenburg area better.

There’s something called the buckeye placers, but I think that is a myth.

Each of the Orange dots represents a recorded mine.  I would guess for every 1 orange dot that MRDS has recorded, there’s 100 that never got recorded there.  A lot of the mines will be gravel pits.  My Land Matters.org>Maps>Mining Claims>Arizona than zoom in to your area, turn on the MRDS mine layer and the topi layer.  Then click the”i” to Identify and list the mines in the Section, which is the box on the maps that are about a mile by a mile.0DB99C5B-C708-42DD-AC5B-FC9D3CA8B030.png
