A Meteorite found by a famous nugget hunter !!

Recommended Posts

Hi All

This rock and many smaller pieces were found by my friend and world famous Nugget Shooter . Our very own Bill Southern found the Triliby Wash meteorite. I twisted his arm real hard to get this stone. It's been on display at the Flandrau Mineral Museum on campus at the U of A and the Old Mining and Mineral in Phoenix . It would still be at the Flandrau had the new curator been more responsible. It is a very nice stone and no doubt there are many more pieces out there just waiting to be found. Bill now has his name in the meteoritical bulletin for ever. Congrads Billy !!

Happy Huntin

Nice! Any closeups of the cut side?

I guess it’s a side that was more recently broken. Did they grind any windows into it?

That was a good day and thank you John, if not for you I would have still been throwing them away as hot rocks :barnie:

Well you certainly turned that hot rock into a really nice cold find.
