DarkSilicate
I was viewing east from -24.074923, 15.887410 tonight when I saw a pretty bright fireball that broke up a little just before finishing its travel. Seemed about 10 to fifteen miles away from my viewing location. Who knows, maybe farther. It would have been last night there in the Namib desert. Pretty rough looking terrain. billpeters
DarkSilicate, Report it here. https://fireball.amsmeteors.org/members/imo/report_intro You can never tell distance. It will take several others to report to get triangulation and figure out a real possible trajectory. I reported one at a dark site in the mountains northeast of Phoenix, AZ Jan 3, 2022, which was also reported in from Las Vegas, NV, Los Angeles, CA and San Diego, CA all 300 miles/500 km away. It was bright orange according to all. Fireball report. https://fireball.imo.net/members/imo_view/report/258472 Below is a stacked pic and video from another observer in the San Diego nearby mountains. It, however, does not show the real orange coloration. billpeters 2022_01_03_06_52_01_000_010139-trim-983-HD-meteor.mp4 Edited January 14, 2022 by billpeters
DarkSilicate
Cool pictures Bill. The one I watched was captured on film also but not my doing. I might see if I can get a copy though.
