Mila
This is sold as a lava rock, but how it got its shape? Edited October 3, 2021 by Mila
Au Seeker
If indeed it's lava rock, it would be formed while in the air, pyroclasts are blobs of molten lava ejected into the air during volcanic eruptions, these are also known as "Lava Bombs" and "Volcanic Bombs" (bigger than 64mm in diameter), and known as "lapilli" for those smaller than 64mm in diameter, which yours would be. https://www.geologyin.com/2014/03/volcanic-bomb.html Most photos I have seen are very rough to jagged in texture, but a very few have a smooth texture, I assume these are old lava bombs that have weather to be more smoother. https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=lava+bomb+pics&qpvt=lava+bomb+pics&form=IQFRML&first=1&tsc=ImageBasicHover
Dakota Slim
If you want lava bombs, head to the east side of the Cargo Muchacho Mountains. This satellite map shows the volcano that coughed them up. As a side note, there is gold and other minerals in the area and some monster mule deer in and around the wash to the east of the volcano crater. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Cargo+Muchacho+Mountains/@32.8648366,-114.7808487,10021m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x80d6e45ec8f2a5d7:0xbfbf15e75c629d24!8m2!3d32.8680996!4d-114.7802371 Edited October 4, 2021 by Dakota Slim
