I found this in my home town in an unusual place. it was found as I walked up a driveway and and have sent the sample for testing it is attracted to magnets. I will post the results of the test whenever I get them.

It is an odd specimen in my opinion in the sunlight there are crystal glimmers as you move it back and forth it resembles shrapnel and peculiar so I am paying to get it looked at.

The backside of this is odd with what looks like fibers that have broken down and when removed from the specimen that they are non magnetic as if organic material was fused to the specimen.

My only thought is it was on fire and landed in the grass and this material is still on the specimen.

There are also cavities in which glimmering in the sunlight comes with in the cavities.

Perhaps I am still getting it tested

Do the basic tests first. Streak and a window.

If your rock contains free metallic iron it cannot be ruled out as an iron meteorite without further testing.

If the test reveals mineral iron you can toss it. It is not a meteorite.

Your photos aren't great. But the surface looks very shaley. It looks like a rusted metal artifact to me. But that is just an opinion based on very limited experience.

Wonder if he lives near an old bombing or artillery testing range, looks like old metal shrapnel to me.
