Killrnstinx
I live in California and I found a few interesting rocks (if you can call them that) that I would like to know more about. They are a little heavier than they look. You can ALMOST break them apart with your hands in some places. being a noob, I’d still assume this is heavily mineralized, although I could be wrong, having no formal education on such. They glitter silver and gold in 1-2mm layers between grayish rock. They were found at dinkey creek, just a few miles from Yosemite nat. Park. https://drive.google.com/file/d/12QVfs1pT4kssi9q9UyLdbIqxI0V_XqMc/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yjFW_AicG8Y-Og0Z9B6Wv4vFG7I3YDlP/view?usp=drivesdk

d_day
Can’t see the photos, but your description sounds like schist.
Bedrock Bob
It sounds like Dinkey Creek Schist. Seriously, your description of mica schist is spot on. I'll bet you a lump of schist that you have a lump of schist.
