ALMOST VIRGIN GOLD AREA FOUND LAST YEAR IN MAINE_ N.H. AREA!  Old coins is first on my list. and Rings are a close second. Anything after that just makes for a better day. FOUND VIRGIN GOLD AREA WITH 100's of miles to search Rocks- fault lines and Glacial retreat areas. I  started researching gold 3 years ago. I found the area where it was made 10,000 years ago. Being old at 67 and not having a wheel drive,{HAVE 4 WHEEL NOW} little money. I looked for others on detecting forums interested in going camping with me for a week. Just go detecting rocks & do a little panning in this area. Most people work or never replied and now the Virus. The next year posted on forums again. No interest. From my research. I get these posts on my facebook. It was from a man who studys Rocks & minerals in that Gold area I was researching about. HE POSTED. If I was hunting for Gold. I would be looking in these areas. Then said. I don't understand why no one is looking in these areas. Gold in the next state is the finest gold of anywhere in the us. Its like 99% pure. But areas can be spotty. And people are looking where every one else is looking. Any way after that post. I get another post. It said that two newer placer strikes were made their last year. They were in the area I was trying to get people to go with me at. That told me a lot about that area which hasn't been detecting. Being first in a new virgin area is a big deal. And now its coming up on a new 2nd year their. Snow is melting and rivers flooding their. Thinking best time for hurting is once river claims down and stops flooding .  At 67. This might be my last shot to hunt Gold and check it off my bucket list. I was hoping to get lucky and find someone who really knows what their doing when it comes to finding Gold. Then have them go take a vacation with me their.  I still want to go. But I'm waiting to see what happens with people interested.

I would really like to know how you're going to do the exploration.  I don't live out there, but I visit it, and I wanted to do some prospecting, but basically involved getting permission from land owners for each place to go into.  Also, the public lands are different and the federal land does not have the same rules as are about out west.

There's a couple areas out in Maine, by Swift Creek I think, that had gold found on some of the land by the Power lines.  The Power company was accommodating at first about letting prospectors go out there, but as happens in gold rich areas with easy access out west, there were many holes dug that were never filled in and the place turned into looking like a war zone with all the craters.  At least that was the story in the book I read.

There was a mine in Northern Maine that was supposed to start, but this was a lode and managed by a big company and would be digging deep,  Don't know if they ever got going.

I agree there should be large of this undiscovered gold, but a lot of this land is off limits for one reason or another.  Does you no good if the lode gold is located in the city.  Also, a lot of the land is just so expensive and being held for development or "wilderness type areas" that I doubt exploration is allowed.

All you need to do is find five acres of land that has gold big enough to detect and you have permission to detect on.

It is the same story in New Hampshire as it is in Arizona. But it is a whole lot easier to figure out in Arizona.

Go for it man! It will be an adventure. You probably won't find much gold but you will learn new things and have a good time. That is what it is all about anyway.

If you go on your quest take a few pictures and post your adventure story here on Nugget shooter. We would love to hear about it.

I'll send you a little gold flake from New Mexico if you will do this for us. So even if you don't come back with a mason jar full of nuggets you won't be completely skunked.

Good luck!

Funny thing is I don't think I'll get skunked if I go. I think theirs plenty of gold in these areas. Its outside these areas where its been spotty for years. Everyone  just follows the leader or reads where to start or where to go in books or on the computer. These are the areas gold was made at 10,000 years ago. Then flowed down rivers. Between  having all the right rocks that are in gold bearing areas and  knowing location of fault line, seeing geology maps of rocks in this gold area,  Air views of Glacial retreat lines and the rivers starting points in the mountains. I know the locations where it should have a lot of gold. But you don't count your chickens before their hatched. It SHOULD be easy to find. Just need to pin point best areas for a old man to climb around on rocks and mountain sides. Thats a lot of work, walking, climbing on and moving rocks. Their also logging roads you can use or pathways in parks . This area is where the earths crust goes under each other and pushes rocks straight up. Theirs a state park their with hundreds of miles of area. And to the NW over the boarder in Canada is where Gold has been mined for many years. Water movement from Canada also flows to these gold bearing rivers in Maine. It like a straight shot S.E. which even adds to whats already here. Their was a lot of Glacial movement here. Which is easy to see from air view of mountains. Know locations of fault line State forest is free to detect. And dredging gear needs permit.

I'm looking into it.  Swift river seems everyone knows of.   These are the outline of towns in this gold area that I wanted to go to. I'm not driving 10 hours to get to a spot where the gas station is 200 miles away. I don't know anything about gold. I started researching how it was made and information fell into my lap with my research. If a geologist asked why no one is hunting these spots. Then people listen and found 2 placer strikes the next year. Then their must be area their to work. The state parks seem fair and are free if not using dredge equiment. Then you need a permit. Its a lot of work to find gold when you never did it. If I'm going. Then I'm finding my own spots to hunt. I'm not going to say the swift river because everyone says that whole river has gold flakes and some nuggets. These towns outline some area. Up around and far North North west of umbagog lake and to the North east corner is  bryon . You hace graften errol Eutis is a North corner. I thought it best to hit the state forest areas where its free. If I end up doing this. That way I won.t run into problems and its less work. Plenty of logging roads way up North. I have and use tax maps to find owners land and which  land I won't have a problem on. Like anything. I have a back up plan when I go to new places. You get to a new spot.  Theirs NO TRESPASSING or the  pucker brush is so thick you can't go. I believe I know the area where gold is thick and was formed and made 10,000 years ago. It where the earths crust goes under each other. And theirs hundreds of miles of area up to the boarder. But State forest might be best for now. Thanks for your thoughts. Its not easy.

Cavanaugh,

Thanks for your detailed response, it sounds like you are hip deep in research and due diligence.

I wish you great success and an enjoyable adventure!!

Ya Jeff, Like that hat!!! Looks shady. HA HA  I've had slowed down on research. I go or don't. Any people who wants to go or is going their on vacation. Now knows the area better.  The first thing I heard on my reply post was. SWIFT RIVER. Everyone who hunts gold knows this name.  Its a long river and the word is you can find some nuggets their along with a lot of flakes. Its a really  big good area to start at.  That said. Everyone knows this. Any parking spots to get at these areas has been picked hard already. All I wanted to do was be in the woods alone and take a cheep vacation.  If I find some gold.  Great! If I didn't. Then I wouldn't go again. If I do find some gold. With the price of it. I'm sure it would have been enough to pay me back for my cheep vacation.  If that happen. Then I  would go back and enjoy myself for a summer of just detecting for gold. Anyone who reads this will know the whole story about how gold was made. Knowing this makes it easier to locate.  As life passes me by. I'm starting to feel my age more. I've done 3 years of off & on research. I even tried finding people on detecting forums to go with me. No luck.  I can hear what people must be thinking. OH A guy who's never detected for gold before. Knows nothing about gold. Has really good gold area.  Ya Right, Want to buy a bridge??? Was hoping to get the right person. Or just someone to go with me. No one was interested. Its funny. I was researching and reading about where gold has been showing up in these rivers.  Yet I know that If someone puts infor in print on gold areas. They might give up good area. But their not giving up any veins or gold area to kill for.  If I have one shot for finding some gold. I wanted to find it. After looking up. How gold was made or formed. I can't believe how everything else fell into my lap after that. If I went their my first year of researching. No one knew or was going to these areas.  I would be the first one their maybe. Second year was that mineral and rock geologist posting on Facebook.  His post was on where he would go looking for gold in that state. He even said in his post. He was wondering why no one was going to these areas.  That was the location I was researching. People weren't going to these areas because. People have been brought up believing gold was spotty in their state. And others read about areas that are your best chance for finding these spotty gold areas. Then they end up giving up. This being the 3rd year. A few hard cord people listen. They went last year looking and found two placer strikes. Maybe they talked to this Geologist guy. Who knows how they ended up finding two placer areas in one years. Nothing new has been found their for years. Then bam, two placer sites are found. So each year. More and more people are finding out about these new areas. So if I'm going to do this. I need to try for this years.  This tells me a lot. So maybe this will help people who vacation their who read this.  What are people going to lose if they vacation their and hunt this area for gold?

You need to get a hold of Mike Furness. He's in your neck of the woods and has a wealth of knowledge. His PM box is full though so I don't know how to reach him unless he reads this article.

By mentioning him.... @Mike Furness the next time Mike visits the forum a notification will alert him that he was mentioned in this topic.

Just an FYI on how this is done.... type the @ symbol wait a few moments and or start typing the user's name of who you want to mention, leave no space between the at symbol and the user's name, as you continue to type a member's list will popup continue to type until you see the member you want to mention and then click on their name in the list and it will look like the mention I did here, you do however need to get the name correct as you type it...i.e. upper case or lower case letters, spaces, etc. to get the right name to appear in the list and you do have to actually click on their name for the task be to completed.
