Andrew Morgan
I have a carved 1960s sculpture made of a single piece of rock. I have HD photos at https://photos.app.goo.gl/MMgsWejCQMNDZfm3A. What I need to know is -- you guessed it -- what rock is it made of? Being completely ignorant (or is it igneous) of geology, my best guess is feldspar. Thank you. d_day
I can’t say for sure, but I’d guess it’s marble.
Guest
Drop of vinegar under the base would nail it. Neutralize it with baking soda after it fizzes.
Andrew Morgan
Yes, marble sounds like the most probable. The surface of the rock has kind of a waxy texture. I first thought maybe soapstone, but there are too many veins for that.
