Oktim
Hello, I found this rock 10 or 15 years ago when I was with my family in the mountain. I'm really curious what it is and why it has that red thing in it. I assume it's quartz but I would like to know it from someone who knows more than me. fuss
Sure looks like a quartz crystal, and I think the red you see is iron staining.
Bedrock Bob
It is a quartz crystal. The colors are from minerals collecting in the fractures. The inclusions in the crystal are other minerals as well. I would call that rutilated quartz. But the inclusions might not be rutile. They might just be cloudy spots from minerals in the quartz.
