mn90403
It is with Norm's and Jonni's permission that I repost sad news. They want all to know. It is with great sadness that I have to report that our friend and contributor Fred Mason passed away this morning at home with his wife by his side. Fred was a good man, husband and father. He was also a good detectorist and friend to all that knew him. Fred was also a very generous person, at just about every gathering he made a very large pot of "Chile Verde" and shared it with all. R.I.P. Freddy Norm 16
mn90403
Fred was a friend to many here. He will be missed. I will miss him. His lungs had been failing him over the last few months. I'm hoping he has found a good patch where he is now. Mitchel

Dakota Slim
Fred always said "I don't want to lead. I don't want to follow. I'd just like to go my own way -- in peace if possible." RIP Fred.

Cowbell79
Fred was a very generous man. He sold me his Minelab several months ago and took the time to show me all he has learned over the years. I’ve kept in touch with him on a regular basis sharing with him my own adventures. Thanks again Fred for all you’ve done. I’ll remember you every time I swing that coil. Rest In Peace sir.

pairadiceau
It is great to see so many posts acknowledging Fred Mason's impact on members here, he was a good man and wonderful story teller. He has been on my mind today. So, here's to Fred Mason: Last year in November, , Fred, Norm their spouses and I were camped on the East side of the river (Colorado), on the western side of the Trigo Mts. south of Quartzsite a ways. I remember sitting by the fire one evening relaxing with my dog and Fred walked over from his trailer with a bottle of Tequila in one hand and a glasses in the other and said, "Would you like a drink?"..... Sure, I said and we had a nice chat by the fire and that is about it. It was a beautiful evening. I miss Fred. RIP amigo. Stay safe my friends. Gilaoro
This is sad news. Has there ever been consideration of establishing a permanent memorial section for passing members?
