Chrisski, Thanks so much for that one , I have a poor printer copy of it so I am very grateful to get a good copy. That was our find  in the summer of 2010  at  Charlotte Creek at Grimes Pass Idaho. 28 + OZ I believe ,  Did I ever tell you the story behind it?

What's the name of those claims around Idaho City that you had permission to use until they were sold?

Only a little about it being found on some hard pack with a lot of work.

I would appreciate hearing the story.  I’ve only made it out prospecting once this year.  I do miss it.

MorLock, They were not claims they were patented property and had been in the owners family for 120+ years . I met the owner on a forum and he mentioned  that he was not a miner and just used the nice log cabin for a weekend retreat from his full time business. We talked about how he could get some income from them without some big company involved. I told him he should set up a pay to dig operation. So he told me to set it up. So I  got a gold mining  pardner and we waited for the snow to melt  and the roads to dry. Actually I don't remember the exact acreage but it consisted of a mill site and a large portion of the creek  and at the very top of a Mt the original mine , most of the mill  the original house was still standing , other houses where in ruins , ore bins were still filled. It was not  the easiest place to get to but the mill site was on a main  road was on a mail route and  passed through many old time town and patented gold mines. a very historic area. But you had to wait until  June to get there.

I will write the whole two years story  one of these days and send you an email , I will tell you this the second year  we were better set up an I begged someone to come to be assistant caretakers and help , finally at the last minute a couple who had a Motor home and a back hoe said they  would come . After I got there they did not show up so I sent them a email  and they replied that they were taking a position at  a LDMA camp for the summer.  When I got back to Morristown I  was in Wickenburg  at  the prospecting shop showing  my gold when they came in. When his wife saw the gold and I told him we would have  gotten 3 or 4 times that amount 28+OZ and that the 4 other people in on that dig got as much or more and we didn't have to share it either. The place had been sold and we had 5 days to get what we could and that was in the middle of a raging forest fire  with slurry bombers flying over our heads and we  were under evacuation orders but  the  roads out were blocked  even the main highway was being escort only for 40 miles! Well she about broke down and I could see a divorce in their future.  It was a glory hole while it lasted with even dozer operators and water truck drivers  were stopping and borrowing pans and shovels until they started getting fired! The dozers opening a road to the top of the mountain uncovered it but if I had of had a backhoe I would have found it much earlier. BTW The owner got 5 Million in cash for the property the company that bought it had found a huge High grade Molly deposit on top of the Mt. and wanted to open pit it. If they do 5 mil won't won't even be a drop in the bucket. Hundreds of prospectors had mined in that creek and parts  of it had huge boulder piles that Big dredges had left. This deposit was in a bench 20 or so feet above the creek and was confined to an area of approx 50'x30 'and just under the grass roots. It was an exciting adventure , among the top 3 in my life.

Max for our entertainment I am sure I am not the only one who would like to read a good tale! Post it in the prospector's lounge if you feel it is appropriate.:th_coffeescreen:
