I think what’s going on with this piece is there’s the blue kyanite, but there’s some other red/orange mineral in the mix.

I'm almost inclined to think it could be actinolite.

I may have figured it out. I think this was a quick grab meant to show chlorite, although I'd never identify it as that from its appearance. I was also wondering about asbestos, and I like the kyanite answer! Thank you all!

If the long strands are fibrous I would almost go with asbestos.  From the pic they almost look crystalline.  Asbestos forms in a crack from one side to the other unlike the picture.

Not sure what you have but that's not kyanite. Perhaps an agate of some type.

I recently learned there is orange kyanite coming out of Tanzania.
