H-2 Charlie 187
I guess i will keep the Gold bug pro for beachs and parks or a extra unit for a friend. It does a great job on the beach . About 4 and a half years back a landed 1.1 gram nugget on my first day out in about 2 hours and zilch ever since . Do you really think it was the Monster that made the difference in this find? And if so, why? If you had put the GB Pro coil over this nugget, do you think it would have detected it? If not why not? Just wondering . . . Thanks. 1

I was trying to understand why H-2 Charlie was glad he made the upgrade. Personally, I agree that the Monster is an upgrade over the GB Pro. But I was curious as to what circumstance in the field existed that would have caused the Monster to have succeeded, where the GB Pro would not have. I was interested in H-2 Charlie's opinion on the subject since it appeared to me that he seemed to be giving his new detector credit for the find and inferring that the old one wouldn't have found the nugget in question. It sounded like a learning opportunity about something new or unique since he had found gold with the GB-Pro in the past and decided to keep it, but not personally use it as a nugget detector anymore.

That sounds pretty consistent with what I have seen in a side by side comparison between the Gold Monster and the GB Pro. Greater sensitivity on smaller targets, (especially at increased depth) which does give the Monster a distinct advantage.
LukeJ 2,125
I'd be willing to bet that the difference between 19kHz and 45kHz, GB Pro and Gm1000 respectively, is the main reason for your observations. Congrats on the nugget !! Hopefully there will be many more. Luke

Andyy 1,060
Great perserverence! I had a buddy go 4 years with a skunk, as well. For him, it was being able to cover more ground with a nerve surgery he had, that allowed him to break the skunk. Suddenly he was able to hike around more and focus more on the ground. Sometimes a new machine does that too.
