Mike Furness
For those of you who have not had the joy of a Teddy Bear Cholla(aka Jumping Cholla) encounter may I suggest that a pair of good tweezers or tight fitting needle nose pliers is a must have. I have also found that carrying a small hair comb is a benefit. The comb will allow you to get the Cholla ball off and then it is easier to get the remaining barbs. 3
AaronBazor
Yes, Chet did find a nice nugget that he showed me Monday evening but haven't seen any pictures posted of it yet. I kneeled down on a dead fuzzy cute little Chola..... Got the fuzz ball off of my jeans when I saw it. The next day during my shower I felt a little bur on my knee, pulled it out with a fingernail clippers, hoping to not cut it off.... It was a quarter inch in my knee! Never even knew it was there. I’m from Saskatchewan, so chalk it up to something like guts plus a bit of foolishness I just clicked on that link to the “teddy bear cholla” thread, and wow some good stories and anecdotes on there! If you find a big one you can push a guy on to there and he can’t get out of it just amazing!

Mitchel I saw Chet about 20 minutes before dark coming out of LSD wash behind us and we stopped and talked at his rig. He said he'd try to make it in the spring too. I'm going to try for the spring but don't know the usual dates.... Mitchel, did we get to meet? Buddy, did you get your permit and make the outing potluck? Aaron The spring outing is usually held in March, usually the middle to the end of March, but we won't know for sure until it's announced maybe sometime in late January or February, here's a link to the announcement of the last spring outing,
