Another fossil found in field

Recommended Posts

Thought I would share this cool looking chunk.  When it is wet, the areas with quartz are very transparent, and I can see bits of opal reflecting in the interior.  Any idea on what it used to be?  To me it looks like a small group of coral, or maybe a larger shell.

Haha yeah I can't go 20ft into one of the fields without finding some piece of fossilized stone.  Michigan is full of fossils.  In the recent past, a couple years ago I think, they found mammoth fossils in a field near where I live

That's evidence of life on Mars.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Seriously, that's a pretty common coral found in sedimentary rocks.

Then why aren't you posting your hematite-magnetite finds in this section where they belong instead of the meteorite section?

Because they are both ID sections, why start arguments on others threads?

I'm not starting an argument. I'm merely stating a fact.

Looks more like the other feller is the one what started the argument.

That is so cool. I think I'd be out in the field most of the time. Have a hard time tearing myself away when on the search for rocks!

If there is going to be an argument I want in on it.

So where is that moderator person now to referee this one?

When Bedrock Bob and stillweaver had a friendly banter on my post he swooped down faster than an owl to a rabbit to blow the timeout whistle!

If so, it would be nice if i could find some. But in all my years i have nothing like that and there's a bit of sedimentary where i live too.

That would be Mike, he's around..but I'm here every day with my head on a swivel, but I usually let them go at it a bit to see if it they'll work it out or if it will truly get out of hand and feelings get hurt before I blow the timeout whistle.

Yeah. I make him nervous. I have a few of these guys all wrapped around the axle and poor Skip has to deal with it. He thinks he has to keep guys from kicking up too much dirt.

Skip is a good guy though. It's that foul tempered and aggravating Mike Furness that is the granny of the bunch. I think his serotonin and dopamine levels are outta whack from snorting that dimple dust for so many years.

Don't get me started on that Swellbelly Hillbeaver rascal. He's as curly as a boar's noodle and twice as slippery. He babbles on about crap in some strange language. He actually blurts out stuff on his keyboard. He e-blurts. It's like he has Tourette's and then hits the enter key. It's freaking shocking sometimes.

There are a bunch of other three legged post hole diggers in this joint as well. So it would be wise to be wary. Skip knows the dangers and he just didn't want your post to get out of hand.

:)
