garikfox
Hello everyone I'd like to document my expeditions this year. This will be my first season of being an "Electronic Prospector". I've studied most of the summer and am ready to go. I still need to learn more about Geology but I'm hoping this will come with time in the field. I look forward to posting my adventures/expeditions with you all 🙂 --Garik Edited September 26, 2019 by garikfox
Mike Furness
Garik ... One of the few RRPC claims(LSD as a whole not necessarily just Sando) I have spent a lot of time in. Were you there today or recently? That whole area should have decent gold. The key will be to look for the areas the old timers(old timer dry wash piles) played in as a starter.
adam
You need a D-11 Cat Bulldozer for that area in the picture. You could literally push every bit of material into a pile and dry wash it for the rest of your life. 1
garikfox
Lol yeah its pretty soft material that's for sure. I'll be leaving October 4th Edited September 27, 2019 by garikfox
garikfox
Trip has been cancelled due to Oct 4th temps to reach 94F. It "was" going to be 89F. Again I end up being my worst enemy in pre-planning the season to early. Edited October 2, 2019 by garikfox

garikfox
I'm back! was awesome! didn't make it too Sando but made it too Cass No. 9 instead. I wanted to walk from claim corner marker to each corner marker but only made it about 200ft from the SE claim marker. The reason was as i was going i just couldn't resist digging up (everything) hot rocks lol. I used the GM1000 today and its seriously sensitive and to be honest i like my EQ800 way better. I didn't find any gold but i did find 2 bird shot and...waaait for it....i found a new friend lol!! And here below is my new friend! lol. I named him "ClaimJump"
Guest
Garikfox I have to say if you heard the buckshot you will hear gold. The next thing you need to do is get your coil over the gold.

jrdemaris
That area has been hit very hard. If you only found the two shots, that tells a story. You walked over a lot of fine gold too small to hear. Lots of drywashing been done there too. Even Bill gets skunked in LSD sometimes. Also remember the three B's, BEDROCK, BANKS AND BENCHES.

To the 3 B's, add RT for ridge tops...Lots of LSD gold on the tops too! Cheers, Unc 2
garikfox
Thanks Uncle Ron I was wondering if a GPX-5000 is worth taking out to LSD? I was thinking it could find something on the RT's Edited October 5, 2019 by garikfox
Uncle Ron
Definitely get that 5000 out there..Seems everyone is into dinking with the monster and other ML VLFs ... That's fun if you're on pounded ground, but I don't have the desire for that much anymore...I love my 4500 and though I have a monster, I honestly don't feel it's better than the GB2 (in experienced hands) ... PI for me! ... Cheers, Unc

Just have to pick and choose before the cooler weather stays here for the "season"!
garikfox
I can't wait until November i'm going to try to go once a week. I'm a impatient person sometimes
Guest
garikfox 97 degrees is not as deadly as -0 but either can be managed with proper clothing, shelter, food and drink or even time of day, however I think you would stand less of a chance making it back in -0 That is just my opinion. I don't have a season. I hunt through summer and dress plays a large part. The new Camel packs can carry all you need for those days. I have a 4 liter and fill it with ice and water. On the really hot days I will carry an extra bottle of water. I like to bring a piece of fruit and some nuts sunflower seeds or pistachios something like that. An orange is awesome on a hot day. Costco sells a six foot umbrella for 20 bucks if the sun is the issue. My point is don't let circumstances rule your choices life is short.
