I personally like the GB Pro for shallow gold and especially for working bedrock. Very user friendly, handles mineralization pretty well, good quality. Both Ray Mills and Steve H. (Detector Prospector) gave high marks to the GB Pro in their blogs. But keep in mind, it is not a Minelab. Even though the GB Pro is rated to detect sub-grain gold, the Gold Monster (IMO) is superior in finding fly-speck gold (and small shallow gold in general) I recently observed the Gold Monster (with small coil) repeatedly find shallow pin head sized gold on pediment-bedrock. The GB Pro freq. is 19 khz vs 45 khz for the Monster.

Pro: It's an excellent detector for ease of use and good sensitivity. Perfect for covering a lot of ground such as relic hunting, meteorites, coins, nugget hunting, etc. Con: The larger 11" coil won't be very sensitive for the tiny pieces of gold.
H-2 Charlie
I use one and even on the beach its darn good handling black sand . It's not a depth torpedo but it works ok in the gold fields .
Edge
Thanks all for responses. I had one lined up on CL for a fair price but the so called seller is less motivated than a millennial.
