snakejim 39
This story is of a friend of mine, "Bob Ellithorpe" an equipment operator in Colorado. The rock is on display in the Denver Museum of Natural History and I have personally seen it on display http://pagosasprings.com/the-summitville-141-oz-gold-boulder/ 6
23XLive 17
When I was a teenager, my neighbor took me with his family up to a cabin they had in the Walsenburg/Alamosa area. While we were there we spent a day panning for gold in a nearby creek and took what we found to show an old prospector that lived close by. He told me a story about some state road workers that sat down for lunch break and were sitting on the largest piece of gold ever found in Colorado. It sounds like the story I heard back then is the story of your friend Bob. It's a small world we live in. : )
