Please, help identify some rocks from Cyprus.

Recommended Posts

Thank you for welcoming me to your wonderful community.

Here are some rocks that I have in my small collection. It would be interesting to know your expert opinion on them. I'm sorry for over sharing (not sure how many photos would be appropriate for one post).

Most of the rocks are found on the Mediterranean sea shore.

I suspect that numbers 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 21 could be jaspers, could they?

19 - a Tompsonite?

Thank you very much for your time and attention!

Karina, I agree with most but not all of your indentifications.

You would get more responses if you post this in the Rock and Minerals section of the forum.

Katrina, welcome to the forum, very nice collection!

I agree with Morlock that you will get more views and responses in the Rocks and Minerals forum section.

I will move this topic to that section, but I will leave a redirect link in the New Members section

6, 9, 13, and 14 look like brecciated jasper infilled with quartz.

16 looks like densely packed quartz crystals with some iron staining.

3 and 5 are probably jasper

i think you’re correct with 19

22 may be a jasper, an agate, or a combination of the two. I can’t really tell.

keep in mind though that identification from photos alone is difficult.
