Diggingd
Me again with another new find, me and a buddy were out in the desert mountains when we found this, at first guess I thought it was calcite, but it does not react in vineagar, but does scratch with a fingernail. any ideas on what it could be would be super helpful. Also it grows in these super interesting formations. the last picture is a small piece I cleaned up.
Old Tom
Asbestos grows like that but I see some what looks like quartz in there. Hard to tell unless it is in hand. Old Tom
Morlock
I'm thinking selenite. Can you scratch it with your fingernail?
d_day
Yeah, most likely selenite, but might also be a number of borate minerals.

Diggingd
Cool that's awesome, I've found some desert rose in a sand wall at the base of this mountain so I would not be surprised if it is selenite
Diggingd
Oh forgot to add the top white part is another rock (most likely the matrix it grew on) which is super soft almost clay like, but slightly harder.
bigrex
I'd also say selenite.
