fredmason
Very nice, Bill; it pays to check your magnet, sometimes! fred
Bedrock Bob
Will iron shavings follow it after you stick a neo on it? Being magnetic is one thing. Having magnetism is a completely different property. All magnetite is magnetic but only some displays magnetism. You might have a gold nugget that will make black sand stand on end when it passes under it. Wouldn't that be something?
Nugget Shooter
That would be cool and maybe I will try to magnetize it It streaks jet black so is most likely Magnetite...
TomH
Thats a pretty cool one. Need to take some macro shots of it! Tom H.
Micro Nugget
Cool beans! I've always been fascinated regarding the oft repeated adage that, "Iron is the mother of gold." However, I've found only a few gold nuggets over the years that strongly are attracted to a magnet. Any possibility, Bill, that you found a meteorite? That really would be awesome!! Rod
Nice nug Bill. A few years back we found a wash in the LSD that gave up quite a few of those "sticky" nuggets.

LowPoint
WOW Bill,.... Now that's COOOOOOL !!! Out of all of the washes that I have hunted over the years that where heavy in magnetite I have yet to find a clump of magnetite with gold within it. I have found many gold nuggets that contain magnetite granules (and stained quartz) within the crevices of those nuggets though. A wash that is heavily laden'd with magnetite has always been a good indicator (for me anyway).
garimpo
Tons of that stuff here Bill but so far no gold.
