What is this? Lava rock, Pumice?

Recommended Posts

Hi. This is my first post here, I’m new. Anyway, we were out hiking today and I came across a rock that stood out to me quite a bit. I did find some black onyx today and some other stuff, but the rock I found that intrigues me is this piece of what looks to be lava rock or pumice. Another part that intrigues me is the place I found it, it’s not really supposed to be where I found it, or at least I can’t find anything online that includes ignious rocks from volcanic activity around here. The area I mean is about 20minutes east of Asheville. Not going to say exactly. Anyway, it looks mostly like lava rock but it does look melted. I had a quick idea that it might be a meteorite but I kinda highly doubt it. The rock Is roughly 3 inches by 3 inches. It’s black on the outside and just a little lighter on the inside to a dark dark brown. Any help please? Ide really appreciate it! Thank you so much!
