Looks like two different minerals to me. That calcite has an odd taper. Everyone seems to agree it is calcite so I am learning something here. I guess I have never seen calcite taper like that. I would think it was something else just from the photo. Maybe I have seen it that way and just did not notice or thought it was something else...
