Red_desert 145
Well Don, my aunt just passed away, was on mother's side of family (give you a copy of email I sent to somebody else). She had been in a nursing home for some time, got real sick falling off her chair. Then 1-2 days later we find out she is in the hospital. This week phone rang during the night, got the news. Funeral will be Tuesday next week. Still don't know if they tested her for the virus. Here in the US test kits are not in the hands of so many doctors even yet. Same hospital Tuesday last week, mom's friend picked her up to go somewhere, after stopping at the hospital to visit another friend. This person wasn't there, hospital said they believed a person there might have the coronavirus. Here again until people are tested, the virus cases can't be counted. garimpo 2,301
RD may your Aunt RIP. At our age more and more of our relatives and coworkers are passing. I've lost a lot of them in the last five years. In this small town I live in the local health org. put out another warning yesterday their expecting 400-500 deaths here from the virus. Only thing open for the last ten days are a drug store and grocery store. Slim pickings in the grocery store, shelves are getting bare. I'm not leaving town for days now afraid the Military Police road block at each end of town won't let me back in. Now just have to hunker down and sit it out. another custom outlawed. Red_desert 145
I think today the US went past the 600 mark on deaths. Other day our state got executive orders to stay home. Essential services only and they will confiscate the business license for any violations. RVs were not considered essential, so shut all construction down. clay 1,071
I've got the complete works of Nostradamus and he never wrote that or anything like it. Facebook probably isn't the best source.
garimpo 2,301
Another subject. If this works it was found in the state just West of here. Me and the guy that sent me this vid went there about 16 years ago. Found a few pieces of gold but not enough to pay for the one week trip. Anyway here goes: It opened but it's almost 14mb and takes forever to load but it's worth the wait. https://mail1.uol.com.br/attachment?msg_id=NTUzMw&ctype=VID-20200324-WA0029.mp4&disposition=attachment&folder=INBOX&attsize=19570860&content_id=&accountId=
pairadiceau 195
Hey Don, Hunker down is the word of the day for many, I hope you are sufficiently provisioned for the duration. I have been cleaning up my shop area and staying put with my mutt. Most around here are being pretty compliant with the directives. I do feel bad for all the people who are out of work as most folks don't have much in the way of financial reserves. Most don't appreciate how difficult life was for those who lived through the depression, maybe some good lessons will come from this. Hang in there amigo! I think I just hijacked this thing, my condolences to Red_Desert for his loss.
garimpo 2,301
Hijacked no JG, we're all here for the same purposes. Hunker in place is the way to go especially here too. Stay cool in Cali.

Red_desert 145
This afternoon, corona count for Indiana reached 645. Not much yet, but considering the first confirmed case was around March 6th. It might be 666 by tonight.

garimpo 2,301
Virus or no virus here goes a new page on prospecting, at least new to me. For all the years I've always carried a GPS with me in the field one of the ways I use it is when I dig a nugget I always put my left foot in the hole and take a GPS fix, then fill the hole and make it look like a hole was never there. So now I'm putting the coords of my finds for many years on Google Earth. It's a great way to see how many ranches have changed over the years. Roads, herds of cows, fields being cultivated now when nothing was there before when I was finding gold there. Another big problem I realized before starting is the new owners. Most now are totally against anybody on their land. At least it should be fun.

garimpo 2,301
The subject of "mineral rights" seldom comes up on nugget shooter but there I think they are a right and that's all I know about the subject. Here in Brazil the one and only "mineral rights" owner is the Gov. so all minerals are owned by the Gov. and that for sure means gold. Remember two or three months ago the gold buyer here was arrested by Federal Police for not issuing a receipt when he bought gold. Folks connected to that arrest have sure been quite. Not paying taxes I think was one of the charges. Now just last week four men were arrested for digging for gold with a bobcat type of machine on lake property. I guess that means the Governor is the owner of the land and mineral rights. I guess digging a hole with a pick to retrieve a gold nugget makes you a criminal. Now I wonder if those are the same men that about three years ago hand dug on lake property and took out two kilos of gold.
Red_desert 145
I think we might still have, maybe did have a gold tax. Our government under Obama, couldn't stand seeing people make all that profit on gold... as the spot gold price kept going up. They fixed it so anything (?) could of been $600 (or was it $500?). Anyway, you needed proper tax info and forms to pay the Gov their share. I would think Trump would of got that reversed, but don't know for sure.
Red_desert 145
Brazil wanted gold tax, it might get really complicated. I'm thinking under Obama, you needed to issue a 1099 misc form with the IRS. At least I'd seen or read that once or twice... maybe it didn't end up that way.

It's just about like everything thing else if you make a profit over a certain amount...you pay a tax on it whether it's stocks, collectibles, property, etc. Quit blaming the obama administration for everything.
Red_desert 145
I was only going by the years past, comments I'd read here on the Nugget Shooter forum. Back then, probably was a lot of hype and speculation over what actually went into Obama Care. Edited February 22 by Red_desert
Red_desert 145
Of course, "years past" is too far yesterday, to remember all the sources. I've got stacks of Pick & Shovel Gazette from GPAA published during Obama era. They had tons of articles about the Obama Administration. I'm wondering now, if all this could be a result of the fires started last year, especially around the lake property. Must have cost a lot of money to fight the burning wildfires.
