ryanworking
Hi all, My son is having fun 'testing' it and I promised I'd post here and I'll read him the responses. He's asking if you can come to our house or send some scientists today if possible. He said you're allowed to come on the condition that you acknowledge he found it fair and square Attaching a few pics I snapped. This is non-magnetic but from my luddite research this could be fusion crust or slag. Thanks, ryan
Saul R W
I'm not a meteorite aficionado, but I think it's fantastic to see a parent who manages to get a child interested in the sciences (or maths, or languages, or small engine repair, or knitting -- anything other than rap and those blasted video games). Way to go, ryanworking.
Edge
Did you do a streak test? Where are you located? Meteorite or not, you're both doing it right!
Uncle Ron
File a small window in it and do a streak test also on an unglazed bit of ceramic (inside top plate of toilet) ... Cheers, Unc

fredmason
Good on you for encouraging your son... not likely to be a meteorite. Please explain that there are many more meteorite-wrongs than meteorite-rights... keep looking and follow the steps to eliminate the wrongs... fred
Mikestang
A statistic that helps describe how rare meteorites are that everyone can understand and really helps drive it home to kids: Meteorites are more rare (by weight) on Earth than gold or diamonds. Keep on encouraging him!

Rick R
Here is a link that the two of you should look at as soon as I saw your photos I thought dinosaur egg. You didn't say in what state it was found, that could add to some information as to what it is. https://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?p=FoSSIl+DINOSAUR+EGGS+pHOTOS&fr=tightropetb&imgurl=http%3A%2F%2F3.bp.blogspot.com%2F-HhjsLBDEJBg%2FUFMeqSJx42I%2FAAAAAAAACgU%2FaQwkyGM67z0%2Fs640%2F040912JSD006.jpg#id=107&iurl=http%3A%2F%2F1.bp.blogspot.com%2F-X6IIWQcjnV4%2FUFMer00m15I%2FAAAAAAAACgc%2Fg2j8HahzlPY%2Fs1600%2F040912JSD007.jpg&action=click
