Really neat video of a placer operations on Sterling Creek in southern Oregon. Some impressive gold but also really neat to see the details of a large placer operation.

My son talked to either this guy or whoever owns the mine now before Christmas..... Said he was really interesting. He invited us up to look at his operation. Going to take him up on it.

Kinda interesting that Glenn Wadstein got his early experience in Sawyers Bar on the North Fork of the Salmon River, then quit the area due to frustration with FS bureaucracy and moved his operations to Oregon around the turn of the century.  In the score of years since then the FS bureaucracy has multiplied exponentially.  I'm glad his story was at least recorded for posterity as those days are pretty much gone forever in California and, more recently, in Oregon.

As I posted on FB, Glenn is my old mining partner...We had a much larger operation, Double Eagle Mine, up Eddy Gulch near Sawyers Bar ... The equipment is all from the '4o's & '50's ... Glenn build the recovery equipment from scratch in the 1990's ... His Sterling operation is a very small version of our operation at Eddy.  That was quite a time (early '80's)...But we found lots of gold ... This picture is me (L) and Glenn (R) and our other partner Fred (C) up in Circle City AK... That's the Yukon in the background ... Cheers, Unc
