NHrockhunter
Picked up a rock with quartz on the tip end. This gold colored spot caught my eye. I have no idea what gold in rocks look like. Is this possibly gold?
chrisski
Really looks like mica. Poke it with a pin and if it crumbles, its mica, if it bends, its metal. The big in the middle is definitely mica, the couple of gold specks in the top left are almost definitely mica. If you're bored, crush the rock and pan the contents. The gold will stay and settle at the bottom of the pan.
Guest
Looks like gold to me, but if it is malleable like Chris said and doesn't crumble its gold!

grim1
A quick way to tell is cover it from light if it stays looking like a gold ring in color then try the scrape test if it dlakes of its mic but gold shines in light or shade mic won't. ..
