microsniper
Thursday I did some detecting with my sdc and the EMI was out of control all morning. I switched to the 4500 later in the day and just had to turn the thing off after messing with all the settings to no relief. It was a little hot and a little windy but nothing out of the ordinary, only experienced this level of disturbance once in the last couple of years in this location. When I got home I discovered that there has been a (G1,G2) geomagnetic storm going on for the past 4 or 5 days, supposedly declining in strength yesterday... Anyone notice excessive emi during this last week? I found this interesting, and wondered if anyone else has tracked these storms in connection with excessive emi??? I found the info on Spaceweather.com if you want to check it out.
TomH
Man, im glad you posted this! Ive not been out detecting but have been dizzy, not wanting to do anything, and not sleeping good the last couple of days. Was starting to think I needed a trip to the doc. I looked up the symptoms of how these storms affect people...guess what...I guess its affecting me. Bizzare. Tom H.
Old Tom
I've been dizzy, not wanting to do anything, and not sleeping for years. Went to the doc and he said that I was just getting old. Old Tom

I'm so glad you said something, Tom. You're not the only one who is feeling the effects. I haven't been sleeping well, my legs have been retaining fluid like crazy and I've been feeling restless as hell for the past couple of evenings for no specific reason. After sleeping with my legs elevated for an hour, I woke up this morning with a terrible migraine and nausea. Spent most of today in bed. When I got up and around (after getting the migraine under control), the fluid was gone but the lower half of me aches like I've been run over by a truck. I was wondering if it had something to do with the pelvic angiogram I had on Thursday... maybe the contrast dye was trapped in all that fluid. Maybe it was all just a matter of bad timing - coinciding with the geo-storm activity that's been really doing a number on me. I hope you feel better! Look up the effects on people. There are a lot of them and history shows it does wack us out. I never figured this???? I LOVE getting older. So many new things pop up. Its like a big science experiment Hope you get over it, like you say, it might be a bad timing thing............ Tom H. After reading your post I started looking up all the crazy symptoms and effects this stuff has on people. Wow... I'll be okay. I've been flushing out my system with plenty of water. 4 hours ago, microsniper said: I found this interesting, and wondered if anyone else has tracked these storms in connection with excessive emi??? It is very interesting and that's a great question! I don't own a PI detector, but I've heard people mention those tend to pick up EMI from stuff like power lines and passing aircraft. Given that, it seems logical that geomagnetic activity could cause electromagnetic interference and that the amount of interference would increase with increased storm activity. Makes sense to me but I'm no astrophysicist. If there is a correlation, you could look up NOAA's Space Weather Forecast and get an idea which days to avoid due to high EMI, if that's the case. Sonoran Dave
Weird. I haven't been sleeping worth a crap either the last few days. Beeped a little Monday and had to shut my beeper(SDC) off twice, the interference was so bad. There were some aircraft overhead at times and just attributed the noise to that...maybe it was your storm.
AZMark
Same here with the restless nights. Seems like I'm watching myself sleep all night. First thing I want to do when I get up is take a nap. And my hands are killing me. I thought it was from playing baseball without a glove...

Au Seeker
I've been feeling out of sorts as well , hopefully all will return to normal and we'll all feel better! That being said I also did a search for symptoms to see if that could be what was making me feel out of whack and I saw that crimes across the board also rises during these solar flares/geomagnetic storms, so I was thinking we should keep this on the low down or the low lifes/criminals will be using this as a defense and getting off with no punishment with all the bleeding hearts type people out there that would be on the juries!!

LMAO over that one, Skip. But it's true that numerous studies and statistics have confirmed a connection between both physical and emotional symptoms and reactions to geomagnetic storms, as well as an increased number of crimes that are connected with psychotic episodes - especially violent crimes. Hmm... Bi-polar... keyword being "magnetic"... just a thought. 2 hours ago, Andyy said: I just figured someone swapped out my Xanax and Ambien with placebos... who'd have thunk Hehe... I caved in last night and took some Trazodone. I finally slept for 8 hours like a baby for the first time in several days. Of course, a long soak in the spa, followed by a healthy amount of home-cooked Shrimp Scampi & Angel Hair Pasta at midnight probably helped, too! ;-)
