Mikestang
Red Dry Lake, AZ Mark and I spent a day hunting Red Dry Lake. I made a find in a little blow-out spot and called Mark over to show him the rock. A few minutes later, as I was documenting my find, Mark found one about 60' away right in the spot I told him I was gonna be hunting! They looked similar, so we compared them, and I popped them right together. They are two pieces of the same stone. Mark is such a good guy that he gave his piece to me. More than likely this is paired to RdDL009, an H3.6. There is still one small piece missing to make this find a whole stone, hopefully I can get back out there and find it. Mikestang
I got back out to Red DL this weekend and found another small chondrite on Sunday, 2.5 grams. Still looking for the 3rd piece to that puzzle we found in June, the last piece should weigh about 1 gram, so it should be locateable if it still exists. Maybe next time! Strapped
Congrats! Another nice find. When hunting the dry lake do you use a metal detector or just a magnet stick?
Mikestang
Just a magnet and my eyes. Mostly the magnet is to make sure it's not a meteorite. They do really stand out once you see one.

Mikestang
I'm pretty sure there are meteorites all over Golden Valley, do you ever go out and just wander around? So much open flat land, every time I drive through all I can think about is what is out there.
azdigger
Nope, but I think I will. A couple of places I ride my SXS the is a lot of flat ground, reminds me of Franconia. Have to give it a shot.

I mostly coin shoot here, but I'm really looking forward to getting out and exploring, looking for meteorites. Coming from a metroplex of about 8 million to a "city" of 40k, I'll be happy as hell.
