metwerks
I can't say this was anything but a strange rock until I looked a little closer. I noticed round nodule shapes within a clast. When I sanded it down (SEE 4th pic) I noticed the entire rock is some combo of breccia and round nodules for lack of knowing what to call them. Are theses chondrites or oolites or some sort of impact breccia or just a strange rock? i appreciate your thoughts. homefire
Yes looks like some rock make up of cemented breccia https://www.google.com/search?q=Cemented++breccia+Rock+photo&biw=1366&bih=633&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj5qJCPhdPOAhUK4SYKHTJSBIwQsAQIGw
metwerks
Thanks for quick reply - what about the 4th pic? any guess on what the small nodules are?

Regmaglitch
Hi Metworks, The rounded shapes in your fourth photo, don't look like chondrules to me. Chondrules are noticeably spherical. Nice breccia. Ben
metwerks
Thanks - mainly trying to learn about rock formation in identfying chondrule. My gut told me it wasn't meteorite, but it still a wild rock. Here is a close up of one of the lighter grey areas
metwerks
I took a closer look and found black remnants and when I chipped a piece off it shows a very thin layer of blackened crust. The 2nd pic shows me holding chip in my fingers - thumb is to the right of rock - Thoughts? Edited September 18, 2016 by metwerks
billpeters
No relation to a meteorite at all. Take it to a geologist. billpeters.
