Add one gram--Help baby

Recommended Posts

Nice of you to be so kind to this family.  It is truly a sad story and I feel for her and the Mom.  I will certainly donate.

I feel compelled to make an additional comment.  This is exactly the kind of situation a family in the USA finds themselves in when they cannot afford decent medical insurance.  Yes, the USA, the richest country in the world does not have a universal medical insurance program (Obamacare is a feeble and broken attempt).  I live in Canada and spend my winters prospecting in Arizona.  Canada's universal health care program has it's many warts, but this baby would be taken care of with no significant expense to her family in Canada.  Yes it is a form of the "dreaded" socialism, but it is an area where socialism makes sense.  And, before someone tells me to mind my own business I am a citizen of both countries.  Sorry for the rant.

Very nice of you and Dodie, Ron. With two very young girls of my own and watching them both born right in front of me in our own living room really makes this hit home for me. I know quite a bit about birth and how mistreated many woman are in hospitals, not sure if thats where she was born but I really feel for the family and the baby girl. We would love to and will donate what we can. If we were closer my wife would cook some meals for them to have, she likes to setup meal trains for new Mom's and help them through the transition of having a new baby. This has got to be extra tough for the Mom and Dad on top of having a new born. I hope the best for them and that someday that little girl is pain free and pitching fast balls on the field.

Thank you Alwaysdirty...Big part of the problem is the father is a dead beat who will have nothing to do with his responsibility ... The mom is trying hard ... Dodie has her working for her accounting business but between working and having to drive to Phoenix from Wickenburg several times  a week, the expense is tough, so all who can provide any help, even $40, will be thanked and blessed! ...Cheers, Unc

Isn't there a children's hospital in Phoenix that might do it for free? We have one here in my town but I don't know what the criteria is.

Yes, Morlock, little CarterQuinn is being treated in the Phx Children's Hospital 3-4 times per week ... But they won't do the surgeries, just physical therapy ...Broken right arm is healing nicely...CQ has already figured out how to use the right arm to lift her left up to help hold her bottle ... She's such a smart little sweetheart!...Cheers, Unc

Yeah, It was a great place for a single guy. He had me over a few times for pizza, movies, shooting off our guns and fireworks. He thought about putting a swimming pool in but that was a bad idea given the location.

Then he had to ruin his life by getting married. Life's a bitch.. ain't it??

I have Pinned this topic to keep it up top!

When Ron mentioned that the father was a "dead beat", I was very concerned that he might be able to gain access to some of the funds raised and use them for his own gain, but I have now found out that can never happen, Ron's wife Dodie started the fund raiser and has complete control of the funds, so I can assure everyone that all money raised will only go towards  CarterQuinn's medical expenses.

I have donated what I can and I challenge all to do what they can as well, as much as you can afford to donate, even if it's just a $1 or $1000 it will go to a very very good cause!!

Step up people show CarterQuinn that we will help her!!

I consider it a privilege to help.

America may be one of the richest countries in the world but we are also the most giving.

I'll offer my prayers for mom and child as well Ron.

God bless you both!

Steve

Well, crap!  We are working with Gofundme to refund every dime that was raised...The baby's mother and grandmother got greedy and demanded we give them the donated funds for their living expenses not the medical expenses for the baby ... Dodie was helping the mother by giving her part time bookkeeping  work, which the mother quit doing when she saw the gofundme campaign building $$$ ... She thought she was going to be able to slide and party with the donated funds...Then this morning they revealed the baby's medical expenses are being covered by insurance ... So we have ended the campaign and have the Gofundme staff processing refunds to all the great people who donated...Thank you all and I'm really bummed it went like this! Cheers, Unc

Ron, that's a crying shame, and shame on the Mom and her Mother, it appears the nut didn't fall far from the tree with those two!

I feel very bad for the child having to go through her health problems, but even more so having to grow up with those two people!!:2mo5pow:

Thanks for standing up to them and not giving them any of the money, you and Dodie are great people and salt of the earth IMHO!!

Thanks Ron for being honest about this and "doing the right thing" by contacting Go-Fund me and also putting this out on the board.  It would have been very easy to not say anything and keep the campaign going by just allowing the lady to take the living expenses and not inquire or check to see where these could be going.  No one would have been any wiser.  This would have only enabled the parents.

I wish the best for the kid.
