TomH
Well................ Great day out in the hills looking for some new areas.Got to expect the skunk if your digging around in new spots.Really gross by about 10 with the humidity. Found some old lead, tin and such. And there laying right on top is a knife that someone lost.Found dad and he said "the handle is hollow and the top screws off" Got back to the truck and took it apart.I was figuring it was full of nuggets NOT Just a bunch of fishing hooks, sinkers, and some old matches.Compass in the top end...made in Taiwan .. Well what the heck ...................It was a find Great day out and we had fun Tom H Edited September 14, 2015 by TomH

Au Seeker
I agree with Luke you're on a roll when it comes to free knifes!!! That knife is in just the right condition that you could use it to break and dig out little cracks and not be afraid of hurting it, put it to good use.

Alwaysdirty
Looks just like the survival knife I had as a kid and carved up everything insight with it. You always find some kind of relic Tom, good eyes for it. Thats better than the nothing I got yesterday, I only had one hour in Prescott yesterday to do some quick swinging, hardly hit any targets in a trib to Lynx. Weird? When I was walking back to the truck I realized I had the threshold down on the GB2, DOH!!! No wonder I didn't hear anything. I need to get out more, thank god its starting to cool down! Old Tom
Then maybe you guys would know what the paperclip with two electrical grommets on it is used for? I can't figure that one out. Old Tom
Alwaysdirty
My Rambo knife had metal wire with a ring on each end to use as a saw.

Alwaysdirty
Those weren't Skittles, they're Cyanide tablets for when the mission goes wrong. Notice Tom's knife had no tablets...

Old Tom
Didn't see anything like that in the knife that Tom found. The thing that I am talking about was a large paperclip that is corroded in half and has two small electrical grommets pressed on each open end. The only thing I can think of that's close would be an electrical shunt. Maybe to glow red from a battery??? Old Tom
weaver hillbille
So you can hotwire a 6x6 and escape, of course. Then maybe you guys would know what the paperclip with two electrical grommets on it is used for? I can't figure that one out. Old Tom
MetalliKile
I would venture to guess the paper clip was used to start fires. Completing the circuit of the batteries juice, it would get hottest at the thinnest part of the paper clip. Hot enough to start some char cloth or other fine kindling. Therefore also the corrosion you mentioned.Regards,MetalliKile

Swampstomper Al
That's exactly what I thought it was too, Old Tom -- an emergency fire starter..Notice its usage prior to the now-absent cyanide tablets, AlwaysDirty..?SA Edited September 19, 2015 by Swampstomper Al
