Dakota Slim
I got a real solid signal when I was out nugget hunting this morning with my GPX5000. It was the first non-trash signal I've had in 4 days in norther Nevada. What I found was a shattered rock that was down about 6 inches. It came out in crumbly pieces. It is not magnetic and there are tiny black crystals in it.Hot rocks are pretty much non existent in this area. Any ideas as to what it is? All total, it weighs 1 pound 14 ounces. nugget108
Odd. Are all the pieces detectable? Maybe there is a chunk of gold in just a section of it.

nugget108
Is it dark enough to be basalt? Thought it was more black. But I'm no space turd expert either haha.

Beeper Bob
Hi Slim, My Guess is Rhyolite containing enough iron to set off your detector. With small black crystals Rhyolite Porphyry. Good Luck to you In Nevada!Bob
