Au Seeker
Some of your photos are blurry, but it looks like a half of a small geode or thunder egg.example photos.
pondmn
It looks like a geode half. I have some smaller than a quarter and are quite beautiful.

mn90403
Mellon? Oh, not in all the pictures.I grew up in Florida (North) and that is not a normal rock (geode) for there. It could have been brought there from another area by a previous owner or neighbor? If that is a natural 'rock' then it seems like more of a fossil than a rock to me. It could also be an Indian artifact or something from the Appalachians area. There are not many rocks in any area other than the panhandle of Florida and the ridge in the center of the state that are not limestone or coquina but there are a lot of fossils. What fossil would that be would be the next question in my mind. What part of Florida are you in?
greendave41
I'm going to throw out the idea of it being calcified coral. Tampa Bay area and Withlacoochee River are known for agatized coral. There's also Rucks Pit known for calcite crystals in mollusk shells.-Dave
