Chris Coffee
I was wondering if someone could shed some light for me on this subject? When I am out detecting in the middle of nowhere and it is calm, my 5000 runs very stable and quiet. However, if the wind starts blowing the machine gets very noisy. The only thing I could think of is that the wind is creating static electricity causing interference. But is static electricity the same as EMI? adam
Two different energy sources with the same result; Interference found with the coil. Just the same when your hitting the ground with your pick and the magnet moves; instant spike heard by the coil. Wind is just more persistent and annoying. Nugget Shooter
Yes the wind effects EMI with the 5000 and not sure exactly why, but yours is a fair guess......
Ahorton10
It could also be shaking your coil cable a bit if its not taped tight
