mica won't be affected to any great extent by pool acid.. NOt sure about pyrite.

Prick any of the larger, shiny, gold looking areas with a pin, and describe to us what happens. Use a magnifying glass.

Gold bends and dents. MIca will dent , too, but eventually shatter/break.

Looking at it again, it could be traces of galena, too.

If this does pan out good luck. You'd be the first ever to find a productive platinum placer in the area after 150 years of people mining here. I hope you're not getting set up for a scam. Who is the refiner?

[Edit: Apparently I can't post this link, but this talks about AZ mining scams]

Here's another quote from the report above:

"The Arizona Department of Mines also conducted an investigation: “I have checked hundreds of platinum samples in Arizona and I have never come up with any positive platinum values,” said department director Mason Coggin."

Before you enter into any deal with the refiner be very cautious. The refiner will probably want a bare minimum amount of money "to cover operations."

Good luck. I hope you've found something that no-one else has for hundreds of years. Americans have been searching for here for 150 years, and Spanish hundreds of years before that. If what you say is true, you've found a deposit worth millions and you need to keep you lips tightly shut on this.

Fact! Some Deposits of Iron or Other Pirites can in fact hold Gold and Silver, Lead and other Goodies. Galena can hold over 1% silver easy. Good Luck.

What should you do? NOt deal with stolen ore, not trespass and not ramble on without using punctuation. And not blab about finding platinum if you don't know.

It's confusing.

Did you have some rocks stolen from you? If that was the case, I am sorry.

What did you learn about testing and was it through a reputable jeweler?

:old: The folks that would know the best sources for professional assay( or non-professional assay) are the local clubs and their members.

THe wealth of quality information, knowledge and quality connections that the people there would have would more than make up the yearly membership fee.

Prospectors know their ores, jewelers and ore assayers, believe me.

I tried my best to answer.
