Chris Coffee
Hello Everyone,I have been out of the hobby for about a year now due to a new career, but have just picked up a new GPX 5000. Yes, I know the GPZ 7000 is just around the corner, but I can't see myself spending almost $7k (I'm guessing on the price) for the new unit right now. So my question is: In the last year have there been any new "breakthroughs" in searchcoils? Or is the 14" Goldstalker and the 17" NuggetFinder Advantage still the go to coils for gold? Also looking to get a shooter coil! I had the NuggetFinder 8x6 when I had my first 5000 and liked it, but is there anything "superior" to it now? Thanks in advance for any responses.Chris Coffee

azblackbird
Seems the consensus among the ML group is using the "sadie coil", or the 8" commander as an all around gold getting coil. I use something similar on my TDI Pro and it pretty much stays on all the time.

Chris Coffee
Thank you, AU. Just found out that we are going to be at the LSD outing next month so I hope to meet you then if you are going.
IDdesertman
Chris, I'd use whatever coils it on the end of your metal detector right now. All those coils are great but putting one over gold is really all that matters. The stock 11" Mono is a gold getter. Save all those $200~$300~$400's that you were going to spend on coils and spend it on gas money out to the goldfields instead. I guarantee you'll find more gold if you do. Au Seeker
Chris, I hope you have a great time at the outing and maybe find the mother lode or at least a small part of it! I live on the east coast so it's not possible for me to be there, maybe one day I can get out that way.
