Patrick in Havasu
Are they really necessary? Thanks,Patrick
Lunk
They are not necessary for the GPX models that have a built in amplifier in the battery, which is controlled by the TARGET VOLUME in the LCD menu. The amplifier that Bruce Candy developed is very unconventional and is superior to any aftermarket amplifier- Lunk -

Hoser John
My headphones, all 5 sets, are stereo with volume control and that's all the help I require. Don't know a single miner who uses them anymore...John
Jonathan Porter
......... the amplifier that Bruce Candy developed is very unconventional and is superior to any aftermarket amplifier- Lunk -The inbuilt amp in the 5000 battery was not developed by Bruce Candy....... the problem with the inbuilt one is you don't have enough control over the volume of the detector when coupled up with speakers, its either just right in low noise areas or over modulating/distorting, it also lacks a bypass function making it hard to turn it off or down when needing to quickly talk with others or listen for potential threats.JP
Lunk
Sorry my bad, JP; I just assumed Mr. Candy developed all the circuitry in these machines. - Lunk -

Jonathan Porter
Mitchel, I'm not in a position to openly discuss anything on the 7000 just yet....once I get the go ahead I'll drop by the forum and do my best to answer any questions people might have.JP
Lunk
Mitchell, I'm not a field tester for Minelab, (but it's on my wish-list!) so I can't answer your question either, sorry. Edited February 3, 2015 by Lunk
