BamaRob
Anyone who can give me any assistance in identifying the rocks would be greatly appreciated. Picked it up a couple of years ago and have been unable to identify. Thanks in advance. Edited December 25, 2014 by BamaRob
Au Seeker
Hi Rob, welcome to the forum! What part of the world/country was this rock found, Alabama? The geology and the types of rocks of the place that it was found will help us possibly determine what it is. Has it been cut in half or did you find it with the one side flat and smooth? BamaRob
The rock was found in North East Tennessee, near the Cumberland plateau. The rock has been cut to expose the interior. The rock varies in color but is primarily olive to a darker green with some white and other colors in the rock. The image represents the rock in true color and has not been altered. Steel Pan
The veining appears to be quartz but an acid test will tell if it's calcite instead. Can't give a guess on the host rock.
