Fires & Hydrated

Recommended Posts

I have found what appears to be a central resource concerning California Fires.

California Fire News - http://calfire.blogspot.com/

Also keep in mind the weather forecast has been and is expected to more than a bit hot. To ensure your safety, please make certain you are well hydrated before prospecting out in the heat and you maintain your fluid intake during your prospecting efforts.

If you are on sugar, salt, or fluid restricted diet, or take prescription medications, check with your healthcare provided for the best strategy for hot weather hydration for you.

DC 10 coming in to make the drop

I was up in the Sierra last year coming down 395 south of Bishop when a couple Air Nat'l Guard C130's came ripping down that valley at 200' or so elev. off to the west of the hwy- as if they were on a straffing run. It looked as if they were purposely hugging the valley floor having fun hotdoggin.

It was a sight.

Just how close to Lake Tahoe?

It's a long way from Tahoe, but not thst far from Placerville. It is turning into a monster fire, now almost 20,000 acres and only 5% containment. Smoke is bad at times here in Foresthill. A very good source for fire info is www.yubanet.com.

Fire exploded last night to over 70,000 acres. Who knows it may get to Tahoe at the rate it's going now. It did jump the Middle a fork of the Ametican and is now on the Foresthill Divide. Picture from town last night.
