RockyC
Complete what appears to be a mussel like creature. Amazingly preserved. Found it after the hurricane washed many rocks into my yard. Siphon even preserved.
Haderly
Sorry but I don't see a fossil. It does look like a river rounded piece of gneiss.
Au Seeker
If this was a clam/mussel type of fossil it would still have the seam where the two halves of the shell come together, and also the hinged end would be apparent.More photos showing the above mentioned areas of the "fossil" would clear up any doubt. El Dorado
This is a fossilized clam. It is opalized and from Coober Pedy,AU. Might have to polish it up one of these days. Edited August 27, 2014 by El Dorado
adam
Coober Pedy...That sounds familiar.....Doesent it mean something like white man in a hole or something.....I know that is a opal field though..Sorry RockyC ...I don't see a fossil there Keep looking! RockyC
I'm to afraid to try and remove it. It could be just the shell and siphon of one. I go fishing all the time and it isn't uncommon to see only a top half with some flesh.
d_day
I'm with Haderly on this. Looks like an ordinary piece of gneiss.
