pondmn
Most of this jade goes to China and is also called Apple Jade as well as BC Jade. One of my friends bought a small piece at the mine and it was not cheap, but, beautiful
Hoser John
In California,Mariposa County in particuliar, has produced some monster sized boulders also. The Sacramento river canyons above Lakehead also produce some fine specimens also. The state published a great book on all the kinds and colors of jade here also. Love that orange peel as a dead giveaway-John

azblackbird
Always amazes me the price mankind can put on a rock. They wouldn't be digging in BFE if it wasn't profitable.
homefire
What crack me up is , if you had a Jade Doo Dad and dropped it one time, wouldn't it break?
klunker
I don't think so HF. That stuff is really tough.
Au Seeker
A very delicately carved piece will most likely break when dropped, but a robust thick heavy piece, I doubt it, jade is a very hard stone.
Hoser John
Opal is the delicate one as jade is one tough rock and eats them diamond blades up-John
homefire
Hard it may be but hard things can be brittle.
grubstake
There is a Jade mine, down the coast from Monterey Ca, in the Willow Creek area, that has Jade with Gold running through it, its called the Queen Hatie Mine. It was a hand worked mine, back in the 1960's I've seem some of this Jade, it was Spiderwebed with Gold. Grubstake
