Rimshot
I was digging to put in some patio 1 1/2X12 block yesterday and finding the usual trash when I found these. The clear one has me puzzled because it is glass. Say's KNOX on the end of it so I found KNOX Glass Co. on the net. They make bottles but can't figure out what this part goes on. Any ideas?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knox_Glass_Bottle_Company

klunker
RS. You figured it out it's an insulator. This type was often used for early radio antennas.

klunker
RS I used insulators like those when I played with radios in my high school days. So they are REALLY OLD.
Rimshot
I could have got rich selling old glass bottles, but I was uneducated about the subject...seen some with almost 1/2 thick glass...I thought what a waste...lol
Gold Nuggets
They are glass insulators for sure. Seen them used on electric fences years ago and also on ham radio antennas for the radial arrays for different frequencies. Now you can find them in farm and ranch stores, but they are plastic instead of glass.
Au Seeker
Here's some info on these from doing two different web searches, the first search was for "glass insulators for electric fence", the second was for "glass antenna insulators", the second search got more hits for these insulators. The two search results.http://www.bing.com/search?q=glass+insulators+for+electric+fence&go=Submit&qs=n&form=QBRE&pq=glass+insulators+for+electric+fence&sc=0-20&sp=-1&sk=&cvid=f4a00509783f4d7b904fbc7d581d7ad9http://www.bing.com/search?q=glass+antenna+insulators&form=MS8TDF&pc=MS8TDF&src=IE-SearchBoxSome of the links with some good info, as already mentioned, most all results refers to these insulators as for radio antennas.http://retrotechnologist.blogspot.com/2013/07/indy-hamfest-swag-part-one.htmlhttp://glassian.org/Pyrex/Radio1/page6.htmlhttp://www.nia.org/general/g_radio.htm
