If you're going prospecting the one area that stands out is Lytle Creek which is under National FS, Also there maybe some GPAA claims north of Ontario if near Big Bear, a bit difficult to tell with this map. I have been to Lytle Creek and while I have hear of some good torture its been very little. I would Google earth this area most of the area is developed land of single family homes, strip malls, other industrial businesses, and a few national parks. On the positive side of things this is a nice view of the rivers. While there could be some BLM lands nearly all is under national FS control most of the BLM lands are further east.

Is there something a bit more I can help with?

Does California have a land status website?

Where I live in AZ, this website works: azland.gov/ and I always use it before I prospect a new area to be sure its not private property or state trust land.
