Barcelona
I found this first rock under a tree on a hill in Colton California. It weights around 200 lbs, I really like the cut threw it. It looks like maybe some platinum, silver, and some gold.? I can take closer pics if needed. These other three i found at an old gold mine in the L.a. Mountains. I busted open a 100 lb quarts rock and these are the samples I took home. Thanks for the help, this web site is great!
Haderly
The first one is a very good example of Gneiss...as in nice gneiss. The second one is quartz that is very mineralized.
d_day
I don't see any evidence of platinum silver or gold in the first one. Like Haderly said, looks like gneiss. Also agree with Haderly on the second one. The shiny bits I see in the photo look like mica. Being that you found it at a gold mine, there's a chance it could contain gold, but the only real way to find out would be to send off to be assayed. Steel Pan
Rocks 1,2,3 look like the same rock to me. A Gniess.4 and 5 look like heavily mineralized quartz.
Gaius
It is possible for someone to add some footnotes on to these pictures noting which precious metals are which, if there are any. Part of the problem I have run into is there are lots and lots and lots and so on of rock pictures but none that identify precious metals within these rocks. LipCa
I thought they just said they didn't see any precious metals?
