Can we get a photo here? before the alien theories start popping up.:D

Sounds like sheered off drill steel to me?

AzNuggetBob

I thought it was some sort of drill, as well ,or holddown, but it doesn't attract a  rare earth mag.:excl: Are drill steels made of high manganese/chromium/non ferrous materials?  :idunno:THere must be some Fe in a drill steel...

I'm working on a stand for it and after that I will get some pics.

What attracted me to it was the skeletonized "bull" quartz on the end with all clean points.  I've found enough roughed up "bull" to make this rare in my book.

I'm going to take it to an  upcoming Treasure Seekers meeting  in Escondido and have them scratch their heads over it.

Found this a few years back in Nevada.  It was under a bunch of cedar duff and still has the bullet in the chamber.  It is a Maynard Carbine .50 cal

Found this a few years back nuggethunting...had a nice deep target...after digging down two and half feet I though I may have struck the Big One !!. Than this little beauty came out of the hole, an 18

I have had many great finds but in terms of getting struck by lightening luck, this one would be my favorite! Interior cranial case from an extinct species of Bison with intact Double flute Clovi

:89::89:My latest piece of baublite is made up of  several skeletonized quartz pockets surrounding an 80 pound albite rock "matrix" .

It has a 3-fluted MACHINIST TAP:200:( appears to be a machinist tap, anyway) sticking out of one side...

Well it's not a machine tap. I htink it's pseudomorph of specular hematite over a quartz crystal with a broken end.SAM_0258.JPG

I found these about five months ago and it was with a Vsat of all things. But just to get it out of the way I dug it. I realized what I had after a few minutes of wiping the dirt. And cleaning out the hole in them. After I got home I used a little penetrating oil and heat, they opened like a charm. Love this find. It's my favourite thus far.

I too have found the same thing, but never cleaned them up. Found them near Coloma. If I get a chance, I will post a picture as I was planning on posting them to this thread anyway!

I can understand the caution.. According to the sharp focus inability of the first photo it appears that pix was snapped while you were standing on the threshold of a parallel universe portal.. The second pix is clear and in focus because you continued on through while circling around..

Well, I was hot on the trail of Jacob Waltz in the Superstition Mountains. Knowing that he was a known Pirateer, and bullshitter, it made sense that I would come across a Pirate Ship deep in the woods concealing the Lost Duchman Mine...:200:
